How to make yarn and thread

Items needed; 

• Cotton
• Spindle 
• Fiber comb, or comb

Making thread from cotton is time-consuming, but it is something that knowing how to do may be important. The key with using a spindle is the tension that you put on the cotton as it goes into the spindle, the tighter, smaller amounts of cotton that go through the eye of the spindle, the finer your thread may become. Use these steps to spin cotton into yarn or thread; 

1. Grab a few balls of cotton. 
2. Take two fiber combs, and start to pull the cotton apart, which is called carding the fibers. 
3. Repeat this until the cotton is separated into long, even fibers, and you have about two handfuls of fibers. 
4. Spin the cotton onto the spindle by feeding it into the hook at the bottom of the spindle. Pull the cotton tightly into the spindle, and wind it through the eye into a tight thread. 
5. Once you have spun the cotton onto the spindle, then you can unwind it into yarn by grabbing the end of the yarn with one hand, and then wrapping it down to your elbow and then repeat this process.
