How to create a bellows
A bellows is a device with two handles that has a bag, or other way to collect air between the two handles, and this air is pushed through a nozzle. You can use a bellows to help build a fire, and increase the heat of a fire, and is essential in blacksmithing.
Items needed:
- Two rectangular pieces of sturdy material such as leather, heavy-duty fabric, or even wood.
- Two rectangular pieces of thinner material to act as the sides of the bellows.
- Strong glue or a sewing kit if you prefer to stitch the pieces together.
- Metal or wooden dowels or rods to act as the hinges for the bellows.
- A handle for easy operation.
Here is a simple method to create a bellows:
- Begin by attaching the two rectangular pieces of sturdy material together along three of the edges to create a pouch-like structure, leaving one edge open.
- Attach the two thinner pieces to the sides of the pouch to create a chamber.
- Insert the rods or dowels through the sides to act as hinges.
- Attach a handle to one end of the bellows for easy operation.
