A pH test strip is relatively easy to make and can help with making things. While they are currently cheap and abundant, they have a shelf life.

Here is a way to make test strips;
- Cut up red cabbage.
- Boil several cups of water.
- Pour the cabbage and boiling water into your blender.
- Blend the mixture until there are no large chunks left
- Pour the mixture into the pot you used to boil the water or another bowl.
- Add about an ounce of isopropyl alcohol, or ethanol, which will prevent bacteria from growing on your strips.
- Soak your paper in the solution
- Place the paper on a clean towel to dry
- Once dried, you can tear a strip off of the paper when you need to test a substance.
