Clay pots can be used for cooking and storing water and other things you will need. You can purify water and store that water in a large clay pot and make a lid for it from clay for example.
Items needed;
- Shovel, or other digging instrument
- Clay (red clay is best, usually just under the topsoil, it will be rocky, you will need to remove as many of the rocks as you can)
- Water (does not have to be purified)
Steps to make a clay pot;
- Prepare the clay: Start by kneading the clay to remove any air bubbles. Add water gradually to achieve a workable consistency, think about playing dough from when you were a kid.
- Shape the pot: Use your hands or a mold to shape the clay into a pot.
- Let it dry: Place the clay pot in a sunny spot to dry. Make sure it is in a place where it won't be disturbed while drying.
- Sun bake the pot: Leave the pot in the sun for a few days, rotating it occasionally to ensure even drying. Once the pot is completely dry and hard, it is ready to be used.
